flowstone VSTs state / settings reset

generally when i save and exit a project in any DAW, the state/settings of the VSTs i use is saved (without their presets being altered)
so when i load the project again, VSTs are set to their previous state / settings.
this is not the case with what i export from flowstone. every time i load the project the flowstone VST resets to the settings it had when i originally exported it.
anybody knows what can be done about that?
thanks

Hi aombk
You have to include a preset manager and every preset name must be unique in the project. This allows parameter dialogue between the host DAW and the exported VST. If you don't want to use or see the preset manager on the front panel just select the crossed-out eye icon at the bottom when you click on the preset manager's module box to select it.
I hope that helps!

hey Spogg, thanks
i was planning to use a preset manager in the future in my VST
so, i did a test with preset manager and it works, but i am not sure how it works.
just by adding the preset manager the state/settings get saved for the same VST instance.
and if i add the VST again or in another project the settings are reset.
thats good so far.
but then theres another problem. how do i save presets betweeen the VST instances?
do i have to export and import text files? i would prefer not to. is there no other way?

Yes you would have to save a preset as a preset.txt file and load it into a different instance of your VST.
When I first came to Flowstone I was puzzled by this but the manuals give a good explanation. Now I think it's an excellent method.
One of the many advantages is that you can read the txt file and check if all your preset parameter names are unique. If there are any duplicates the DAW may not reload the project correctly. For example, if there are 2 knobs with the preset name 'Level' which one does the DAW assign the value of 'Level' to? They should be say, 'Level out' and 'Effect level' for example. Then the DAW will address the correct knob.
The little module below is very useful for schematics that use a lot of identical or similar modules, for example 3 identical oscillators. All you do is drag one of these into each oscillator and give the oscillator module a unique name in the preset parameters module below, like OSC1, OSC2 etc. This module attaches a prefix to the parameter names to give a unique entry in the preset.txt. In this way each identical module can have 1 knob called 'Level' but the prefix of OSC1, OSC2 will make the entry unique.
This module can also appear in child modules and at the highest level in the schematic. When nested, the preset.txt file will then have the prefixes added from the highest to the lowest level in the hierarchy. I've attached a zipped preset text file to illustrate how this appears.
I hope this helps
