The CRAZY idea.
I need to track an audio signal for it's MAX PEAK level, convert that MAX value into MIDI data, and then [via MIDI], send it to another VST plugin
I know .... just plain crazy.
Actually, I was hoping that the 'passing' of data between to apps [plugins] would have been simpler, but it looks to knowing C++ and creating a special DLL file [something like that ... this was mentioned in another thread]. Well, at this stage, that's a bit beyond my ability
Thusly ... the idea to stream the data over MIDI, where I can establish 2-way communication. The idea is to be able to monitor audio levels and post that data at a point above the audio stream. The 'monitoring' plugin would also be a VCA that could be controlled [via MIDI] from this 'above' location in the FX chain. Ideally there would be several of these 'monitors' placed between other plugins in the chain, where the 'levels' can be monitored [and controlled] from a single location GUI.

Anyway .... my hope is that with the Hi-Rez MIDI, I could have finer steps between values.
I do have a rather basic schematic that starts to demonstrate the idea, but I'm in the early stage of putting this design together.
