How to sync Waveplayer to host?

Hi , I'm pretty new to all this but I'm learning fast and enjoying the challenges... one has got me stumped though.
I'm guessing it shouldn't be too difficult to achieve for an sm vet but I've been at it for 2 days now and no closer to a solution.

Ok.. so here's the problem:
I'm trying to get a waveplayer inside a Vst effect, to sync to the host DAW (Ableton Live). I've looked at various solutions including PPQ ramps, Bar start, Is playing, etc but nothing seems to do the trick (not saying I implemented any of these solutions correctly  ). I had it cycling at one point but the phase was different each time I stopped and restarted the song and now after reconnecting the Env control primative inside the precise counter it doesn't even want to loop :(

In short...all I need to do is to trigger the wave to begin to cycle from the beginning on pressing play in the DAW (bearing in mind that this is an effect and is all in mono) .

Big thanks for any assistance.

hi

here is a quick and dirty attempt at a sample player that is triggered by a host. this only plays the wave on a loop when you press play in your daw! it is by no means a proper synced waveplayer!

it is a start at least :D

Thanks so much for this Jay, I was almost gonna restart my project in SE ( a quick look at some of the modules in SE suggests it would be very simple to accomplish - the BPM clock has a "transport run" output) . I'll give it a whirl when I'm back home. Thanks again dood

hiya bud no probs! we also have that module! ours is called "playing". we have a multitude of modules and primitives related to host applications in fact, if you type host into the toolbox you will see them all :)

billv also worked extensivly on a sample accurate midi clock/timer that can be used to sync and sequence stuff!

i have a sample player based on Billv's midi timer somewhere on my hhd's will post ity up later when i also return home!

all the best!
