Very funny deraudrl! :lol:

I too could see no real-world use for maths (as opposed to arithmetic of course).
But in the last six years I’ve had to return to some stuff:

    Binary (tulamide’s fault)
    Hexadecimal (Ensoniq wave ROMs)
    Logarithms
    Decibels
    Some basic algebra
    Exponential relationships (good for pandemics too)
    Trigonometry

And probably more.

If only they’d warned me about FlowStone at school…

I'm happy to report that Manfred has NOT been able to make the issue re-appear, so it looks as though in this particular application, Spogg's technically in-accurate method is, in practice, ak'rat enuff.

But maybe, as tula said, we've just been lucky!

Pretty much: for this example, you're using a tiny fraction of the available accuracy: it would take many more operations (vs the two or three in play here) to get the inaccuracy up to a meaningful level.
