Digital guitar stomp box hardware?

Heya 8D,
Some guys at KVR are talking about using like a Raspberry Pi to make stompboxes that load a VST.
Hmm- does Flowstone compatible hardware enable sonmething like this?
Raspberry Pi is out coz it only has audio out.
Would be interested to hear what our options(if any) are here?
Just curious,
I guess I am mainly at home so it's no biggie to use my DAW.

Because it's too expensive. A Flowstone capable board would cost over 50$ when a similar performance can be had on a dsp-chip for 2$. Even Raspberry is expensive in that scale.

There is some scope for cost though.
Last time I bought a Boss guitar pedal,
it was around $250 AUD.
Also U can't change what effect u have in there.

That pedals components prob cost 10% of that.. Or less

Yep, the DSP chip might be 2$, but all the associated hardware needed for interfacing with the chip add to the cost. On the other hand, the price of multi effect floor boards is way over what you would spend buying an Raspberry Pi and maybe a floor controller and a decent USB interface. Of course there´s the software problem... I wonder what would happen if there was a kickstarter for such a project? DIY-multi-effects-floor-board with customizable software....

I'm working on a similar project for quite a time. Instead of a DSP, I use a FPGA (which is quite expensive). The benefit is, I can program in a processor core that fits the problem... eg. I could calculate a biquad in one clock cycle. But even with this, I have the problem that I still only have 1000-2000 cycles. The whole interfacing stuff is also quite difficult, especially the Ram... that's where I'm stuck right now.

So, there would have to be some serious goodies with something that was more expensive. Hell that one even supports blue tooth and a IK MM type custom shop. The Flowboard at 150 dollars alone kills the deal because what about everything else that would be needed.. ?

That's a very sweet item, thanks for the share.
A setback for me though is that you have to use their effects,
it's not open like a VST host would be.

I suspect we can't really use the current Flowboard, just looking at the pins.

I'll think about adding a Zoom to the wishlist,
the price point is attractive, seeing how much I have invested in 4 hardware stomps, & ToneWorks multi-effect.
