The Quilcom GRANCH: A granular chorus effect

Post by Spogg »

Hi all!

I’ve been fooling around with live-input granular effects. I just couldn’t help myself.

This one’s a simple chorus-type effect using 8 grains with a spread of play rates you can adjust, stereo width control, feedback and effect levels. You can also choose to have linear interpolation. Click on the GRANCH logo word for a help page.

This granular-based chorus sounds very different from the regular modulated delay-mix system, and you may or may not like it. It can get really down and dirty at more extreme settings (if you like that sort of thing).
Try it with a microphone or the included very basic stereo synth.

I hope you have a bit of fun with it and any comments are always welcomed.

The download includes the FSM and VST plugin:

EDIT: If you look later in this topic you'll see that Loopey made a lovely GUI for it and the link above will get it for you. Thanks Loopey!

There’s a very brief demo, first an organ sound dry and then processed and my voice, dry and then processed. It’s here:

Great stuff Spogg!

Having some fun playing around with this one, thanks! Also, I took a little time (an hour to be exact) to make a quick GUI for it, hope you don't mind?

I will post the edited file with the new GUI if you want me to?

p.s. I also designed a Quilcom Logo too. If you want to use it as your logo I will send you the logo via PM :)

Cheers,

Brill!!

It's so nice for you to have done this for me. :D

I've replaced my crappy looking version with yours on Flowstoners and the full thing with VST export is here:

I think it's perfect!

The Q reminds me of a lead with a jack plug in a socket. Could not be better.

I was working on a logo as well. I was on the same path (circle, "cable"), but I wasn't able to get to that final step of making it a plug.

I guess that's what divides the good from the masters :ugeek:
