Variable Bandwidth Bandpass Filter

Post by BobF »

Hello gang,

I have searched, but can not find a variable Bandwidth Bandpass Filter. Has anyone ever posted one or does someone have one they could post. If not I guess I could try using a lowpass plus a highpass configuration. Anyway many thanks if you do.

Later then, BobF.....

Over at FS Guru get RBJ biquad filters or my optimised biquad filters. Both collections include a bandpass filter. The bandwidth is controlled by the input labeled Q or Res or Resonance. Bandwidth is Q*center_frequency. Biquads, however, have only a moderate fallof (6dB/octave at each side for a bandpass). If you need better stopband rejection, you want a higher order filter. A while ago I posted bandpass filters up to 10th order on the SM forum, however the site has not been reachable lately.

Hi Martin,
thanks for the reply, I will head right over there and pick those up.

P.S.,is it possible to re-post your SM forum bandpass filters here and covert them to fsm or is that a big job?

In fact I am thinking to give it a brush-up and up the entite series of lowpass, bandpass, highpass, and bandstop filters at FS Guru.

Hi again Martin,

That would really be great! Maybe you can include the bandpass filters (10th order) from the SM forum and convert them to fsm to. Let us all know when it happens.

He did ... and they are very nice !

yeah ... old thread ... so are 'filters'.

Martin's work is mandatory study for those that can even understand this stuff

Shy of that ... see how well a schematic can be thought out.

[i work audio, but I'm a visual kinda guy ... there's a difference ?] ;)

I'm also interessed in this kind of filters, if I can re-use in my plugin.
Would be nice have a sort of 3-Band EQ filter such as Kontakt:

with visual display. I can't see any "Peak filter" (Freq, Width and Gain) in FlowStone from the standard library. Is there?

Yes of course, but try to move a band with mouse for example: steppy, it looks freeze, not smooth. Considering I need to fast automate it, will crash, or get a bad visual feedback (which is important to me get it smooth). That's why I've asked for somethings different. Or I could try to put my hands on it and do my best :D

sadly there is no market for readymade solutions around here (lot of forum people where against it at the last try, because they would have to pay then  ) anyway, look for martins optimized biquad filter pack, these you can control also with lfo's or other streambased sources
