There is a special dna sequencer written & currently in use on "Big Blue" that works out all the possible permutations of specific dna in relation to its genus (family).
What is truly remarkable is the fact that the program was originally conceived to write scores, permutations of notes based on tempo & harmonies.
Which some boffin said "What a waste", of course the sequencer was never used for music,it was used in fractal crystallisation & is currently being used to find the permutations of electronic components.

The next will be a sequencer that reprograms itself.
