More Spread-Partials fun

So taken with Martin's WaveShape and Spread-Partials oscillators, I wanted put them into a more conventional subtractive context so I wrapped them up into a 'box' based on the RSF Polykobal II, or more accurately, the current hardware synth inspired by the Polykobal, the Japanese-made Kijimi.

I've implemented the Spread Partials osc with a crossfader than fades between four preset partials spreads (selectable 1-9, including 3 inharmonic spreads); the crossfade being modulatable. An alternate mode utilizes the Spread Partials predecessor, Martin's WaveShape osc, arranged as a pair to produce variable/modulatable pulse waves.
Lots of timbral variety and movement with this before even touching the Filter.

I'd like someone to check the function of the hotlink I've put on this to Martin's website (click on the 'Oscillators by Martin Vicanek' label in the lower right corner). I keep my FS computer offline to protect it from viruses, and only use a Mac for web, so I can't check to see if this is working. Can't believe I haven't thought before to put such a hotlink on previous synths as a way to thank Martin for all he's provided us; I really want to make sure this is working, so people can easily find 'Martin's World'.

Locking prevents a preset from being altered - no matter, how many changes you make while it's active. Switching to another preset, then going back will restore the original preset, not including the changes you made.

No problem. But allow me to point you to the User Guide, as it is a true bible for us Flowstoners. This is what the User Guide has to say about locking:

When presets are locked any changes you make to them are lost when you change program – this applies to exported plugins as well as inside SynthMaker.

Thanks for that clarification - I should have a look at the User Guide; I found the original SM UG of very little utility; maybe the newer FS one is better.

As we would expect, tulamide is spot on.

In my case I bring the Lock function out for the user. This gives the choice of retaining the original settings while experimenting with sound variations. Of course, if you want to get back to the original, if Lock is not provided, you could always re-load the preset. This assumes the user is given all the presets separately (which I always do).

You can use Reaper to Restore Factory Presets, but this is a blanket option and ALL the presets are restored. I asked Cockos to change this so you could restore individual ones, but that was ages ago and it hasn’t been taken up.

One thing for users to keep in mind is that with Lock enabled the DAW will not store the changed settings in the song file.

If you don’t provide a Lock switch for the user, Lock should always be disabled. Unless you like getting complaints!
