Re: "The ultimate synthesizer"

I would think the "ultimate" synth is one that would be capable of ear-indistinguishable emulation of any other arbitrary synth/patch/sound. The problem of course is that the GUI will be well-nigh opaque.

CSound comes to mind, as does Synthmaster, both of which (IMHO) are absolute horrors to work ...

Hello everyone,

I'd like to thank you all for your initial feedback, which is as rich as it is varied ! :)

I'm leaving this topic open to give others a chance to express themselves on the subject. Believe me, I'll be back to read you every day.

Hi,

By "ultimate" (a term deliberately placed in quotation marks in the title), we actually mean "ideal". The nuance is important, because you can find something ideal without finding it ultimate, and I thank you for pointing it out :) !

Re: "The ultimate synthesizer"

8-)
Reframing it in another way...

If one can say "Oh it's the ... plugin" by just listening to it, that's really the ultimate plugins in my mind. They can both subjectively and objectively sound crap, but still be recognizable. Kind of makes them ideal plugins in that way... :D
Goes for ...

Re: "The ultimate synthesizer"

My highly unqualified opinion, not being a musician, producer, sound engineer nor anything music... would be...

If a synthesizer (based of a common layout) can be picked out "in" or "of" a crowd of synthesizers (all using "similar settings" to recreate similar sound) by just listening to it. That ...

Re: "The ultimate synthesizer"

Not sure there's one utlimate virtual synthesizer.
The problem is, if this synthetiser could do everything or every sound,
and the subtle nuance of sound that you could get with this filter, overdrive, tube, transistor etc
You end up with a very lot of control where genneraly synthetiser have ...

"The ultimate synthesizer"

Hello everyone,

At a certain stage in the development of my project, I'd like to compare my vision of the "ideal virtual synthesizer" with that of others.

So I'm opening this post to get your feedback on the subject.

I look forward to hearing from you!

Re: Sampler with configurable loop point

My first thought is that I would avoid using selectors for the audio path because they’re controlled by green and they can cause a stream interruption when switching.
I’d be inclined to use a rapid cross-fade using stream multipliers controlled by green with a fast de-zip for the crossfade ...

Re: Sampler with configurable loop point

Hi gang,

Since I wrote that last message, I've been working, in my spare time, on this sampler with this on-the-fly configurable loop point.

The initial idea is to enable the user to define a loop point on the fly, as soon as the sample playback reaches a value that the user himself has defined ...

Re: I nearly made a perfect Serum style wavetable Osc

Hello, thank you for this work! I started to integrate it in one of my projects (I hope you don't mind?) and it's true that the main problem is the transitions which are not smooth. So I have to find a way to load the whole wavetable without increasing the processor load, which is not easy. In his ...
